Datuk Seri Panglima
Masidi Manjun

Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun is the Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd.
In addition to his Chairmanship with SMJESB, Datuk Seri Masidi also currently serves as the Sabah Minister of Finance, and led the state’s negotiations with PETRONAS, culminating in the signing of the Commercial Collaboration Agreement between the Sabah Government and PETRONAS on December 7, 2021, as well as various state stake acquisitions of PETRONAS’ oil and gas operations.
He is a trained lawyer and a barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, London, and has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. He was a senior state civil servant when he left the government service in 1990 to join the private sector. He has served as executive director in several public-listed companies and held several bank directorships.
Datuk Seri Masidi is always very committed with whatever tasks are entrusted to him. When he served as Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister between 2007 and 2018, he led an unprecedented growth in the tourism industry for Sabah, and is often credited for turning Sabah into a tourism powerhouse in the country.

Datuk Mohd Sofian Alfian Nair is the Non-Independent and Non-Executive Director of the Board of SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd.
A holder of Degree in Business Administration (Marketing) from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Datuk Mohd Sofian is also the Permanent Secretary of the Sabah Finance Ministry and a director at Qhazanah Sabah, Sabah Credit Corporation, Sabah Energy Corporation, Angkatan Hebat Group, Saham Sabah Berhad and Sabah Development Bank Berhad.
His three decades of successful track records and experiences in public service will serve SMJESB well.

Mohamad Damshal Awang Damit is the Independent and Non-Executive Director of the Board of SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd.
He is a member of CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute Malaysia, and has an impressive track record in investment management. Currently, he is also the Group CEO of PHB, a property investment company.
Mohd Damshal also held senior roles at prominent organisations such as the Social Security Organisation and Lembaga Tabung Haji, where he demonstrated his expertise in equity and fixed-income investments. , and these involvements in industry working groups reflect his commitment to advancing the financial sector.

Datuk Dr. Dionysia Kibat is a governance leader whose insights are anchored in her Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), specializing in Corporate Governance, and her status as a Chartered Accountant. She possesses the critical capability to ensure financial prudence and robust oversight for the Board of SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd, where she serves as a Non-Independent Executive Director. She leverages her profound knowledge base, reinforced by her membership in the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governance (MICG), to provide an essential link to executive management and contribute to the Board's fiduciary duties, strategic direction, and risk management.
Her strength in policy formulation and complex negotiation is a direct result of her prior government service, which included a pivotal role in the Commercial Collaboration Agreement (CCA) between the Sabah Government and PETRONAS during her tenure as Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Finance of Sabah. This unique blend of academic governance expertise and practical policy experience makes her highly effective in her oversight roles, including her directorships at major national energy assets: PETRONAS LNG9 Sdn Bhd and PETRONAS Chemical Fertiliser Sabah Sdn Bhd (PC FSSB).

Datuk Brenndon Soh is the Non-Independent and Non-Executive Director of the Board of SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd.
A highly accomplished legal professional with a distinguished career spanning civil litigation, corporate law, and public service. Currently serving as Sabah's State Attorney-General, he brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the Board of SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd. He holds a Bachelor of Laws LLB (Hons) degree from the University of Leeds and subsequently completed the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law, London.
In the year 2000, he was called as an Advocate to the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak in Kota Kinabalu, where he commenced private practice. He has appeared in all levels of the Malaysian courts and advised and acted in a broad spectrum of disputes, including land matters, claims in contract and tort, judicial review, constitutional law, construction, company and shareholder disputes and intellectual property.
He was elected as the President of the Sabah Law Association in 2015 and was subsequently the inaugural President of the statutory body known as the Sabah Law Society in 2017. He had played a pivotal role in the Commercial Collaboration Agreement (“CCA”) negotiations, offering crucial legal counsel on the CCA entered into between the State Government of Sabah and PETRONAS.
Cheng Lay Kuan

Cheng Lay Kuan, the Company Secretary of SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd and Sabah International Petroleum Sdn Bhd (SIP) Group of companies. Has practiced in the corporate secretarial profession over 25 years for various industries and has vast experience in corporate exercise, financial restructuring, project financing and fund raising of listed entities.
She began career with an Audit and Secretarial management firm prior to joining a listed entity in year 1996, EPE Power Corporation Berhad under Renong conglomerate leading the mega project of first LRT transport, power plant construction and power transmission infrastructure. In year 2004 following an acquisition and merger, she worked under Ranhill Group, with 3 listed companies involved in power and water concessions, infrastructure, highway, bridges, building, water, waste water engineering, construction and operations and maintenance activities. She joined M3nergy Berhad in year 2013 and transferred to SIP following a restructuring.
She holds professional qualification in chartered secretary from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrator, UK in year 1994. She is an Associate Member of the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Administrators and Secretaries since October 1997 and is registered with Companies Commission of Malaysia for practicing as Chartered Secretary.

Datuk Albert Lo

Datuk Albert Lo is a highly accomplished upstream oil and gas professional with over 46 years of global experience in executive leadership, exploration and production (E&P) operations, and high-impact business transformation.
He dedicated 37 years to Shell, rising through the ranks from offshore field operations to serving as Production Services Manager for the Shell Asia Pacific Region. From 2010 to 2020, he held several senior leadership roles at Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (SIPC), culminating as Executive Vice President and Corporate Business Director.
During his tenure at SIPC, Datuk Albert spearheaded the development of a world-class global Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) system, oversaw multi-billion dollar joint ventures, including North Sea, Canada LNG, Algeria, and Indonesia Deepwater and led the successful restructuring and turnaround of both the North Sea JV and Nigeria business unit under Sinopec Addax E&P.
In 2022, he is appointed Chief Executive Officer of Sabah International Petroleum Sdn Bhd, and in February 2024, he transitions to SMJ Energy, where he continues his legacy of strategic stewardship and operational excellence.
Beyond his executive responsibilities, Datuk Albert currently serves as Alternate Director for PETRONAS LNG9 Sdn Bhd.

Terry Biusing is a highly accomplished business management professional with over 30 years of experience in the energy sector, including significant tenures at Shell, PETRONAS, and his current role with SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd, the Sabah State Government's oil and gas investment company.
He is a results-driven professional with a proven track record in business operations and project management, particularly in new business start-ups, major projects, and the upstream oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) industry.
In his current role as Executive Director at SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd, his portfolio is focused on developing local content for the OGSE industry in Sabah, Government Liaison & Corporate Services, People & Organization, and overseeing Sabah International Petroleum.
His leadership extends beyond his executive role as he also serves on the Board of Directors for Sazma Aviation Sdn Bhd and PETRONAS Chemical Fertilizer Sabah Sdn Bhd.
His career is marked by a consistent ability to drive operational excellence, optimize costs, and secure significant business development opportunities.
Kenny Huah

Kenny Huah is a highly accomplished finance professional with over 20 years of global experience in the energy sector, specializing in upstream oil and gas including integrated gas (GTL). His career spans strategic financial leadership across complex, high-stakes environments, with a focus on operational excellence and governance.
His expertise encompasses financial management, performance and risk oversight, planning and accounting, governance and controls, and the execution of major systems and process improvement initiatives. Before joining SMJ Energy, Kenny held various key positions within Shell, including company directorship roles and was part of the leadership team of some of Shell’s top performing assets.
His profile is further defined by extensive international exposure across the UK, Malaysia, Qatar, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines, managing diverse, multi-location teams. He holds a unique blend of a First-Class BEng in Civil and Structural Engineering (University of Manchester) and qualification as a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW), a combination that enables both deep technical insight and robust financial acumen.

Samantha is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in corporate and commercial contracting, both in private practice and in-house counsel roles.
Her legal journey began with the attainment of a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of the West of England, Bristol, United Kingdom in 2004. She further strengthened her legal foundation by completing the Certificate of Legal Practice in 2005. In 2006, she is admitted to both the Malaysian and Sabah Bar, reflecting her commitment to the legal profession.
From 2006 to 2014, Samantha practiced as a solicitor in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, specializing in corporate and commercial matters. She subsequently transitioned into an in-house legal counsel role, where she deepened her expertise in providing strategic legal support within corporate environments.
From 2017 to 2024, Samantha served as the Head of Group Legal & Corporate Services at Sabah International Petroleum Sdn Bhd (SIP). In this capacity, she oversaw all legal affairs across the SIP Group, ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering expert legal advice on a wide range of business transactions. Her portfolio also includes managing properties entrusted by the Sabah State Government, with responsibility for operational oversight, maintenance, and business performance optimization.
